“I experienced one of the wildest transformations I've ever witnessed in the life of a 10 year old camper…” — Nathan Sims

How LFR Led to a Life-Changing Decision for Jesus
“I experienced one of the wildest transformations I've ever witnessed in the life of a 10 year old camper. He was one of the worst-behaved campers I have ever seen. He was a bully to others and would do anything to get his way. After a pinecone duty session where I picked up the pinecones for him and talked to him about the importance of grace and repentance, he was a completely different person. Not only did he become the kindest, most selfless camper in that cabin, but he actually helped lead one of his friends to faith in Christ on the last night of camp. This miraculous work of the Holy Spirit increased my faith in him to change lives for his glory.”
Called to Ministry Through LFR
“I was already considering pastoral ministry when I was hired on staff at LFR, but the joy I found in ministering to the campers and others staff members, as well as the affirmation I received from other staff and adult leaders, further confirmed my calling.”
A Mentor Who Made an Impact
“Rich and Sandy Malone modeled and taught what it means to walk by the Spirit. In the highest of high and the lowest of lows, they exhibited an unshakeable joy and hope that flowed from their daily walk with the Lord. They also always had time for people. This reminds me of how Jesus was always interrupted but never treated those people as interruptions or inconveniences. This is how I would describe Rich and Sandy as well.”
A Lesson or Scripture That Still Sticks Today
“Jason Curry's challenges to "Finish Empty" always convicted and inspired me. Though he was faithful to point out how sanctification only comes through the work of the Holy Spirit in us, he also boldly pointed out how we must be all in and do what it takes.”
More of your story
“I have experienced LFR summer camp as a camper, staffer, and adult leader. My sister was saved during a LFR summer camp, and most of my "spiritual growth spurts" have happened there. I've seen many of my former campers go on to be staff members and faithful spouses, parents, and church members. Most importantly, I met my wife while on summer staff together and we had our wedding there. My children have all been to retreats there and my oldest will be a camper this summer. I am forever grateful for how God has used the relationships at LFR to leave an eternal impact on my family's life.”
